Life Steps
Our Life Steps program is a way for us to build an ongoing relationship with our clients, offering coaching and education to empower them to make positive changes and choices for their future.
After coming to our center for a pregnancy test and making a decision to parent her child, a client becomes eligible to participate in the Life Steps program. She is eligible to come for two Life Steps visits each month, throughout her pregnancy and for up to one year after her baby is born.
During her visit, a client has an opportunity to complete a web-based lesson from a wide range of topics in our curriculum along with the AWC coach. The baby’s father is encouraged to participate in Life Steps for Dads so that he can also join in the learning and growing process.
By completing a lesson during the Life Steps appointment, a client earns points that are used to select baby care items from our baby boutique, such as diapers, wipes, and clothes (maternity or baby) to help with the baby and pregnancy. So through this program, we are able to help in a practical way, but also more importantly, spiritually. Each topic in the Life Steps curriculum is connected to the Gospel which encourages a spiritual conversation that has the ability to impact daily life, and eternal life. The Life Steps curriculum also offers a diverse menu of lessons with topics, such as:
- Prenatal Care
- Infant Care
- Breastfeeding
- Parenting & Discipline
- Household Management
- Personal Finances
- Spiritual Development
All of the items in our Life Steps boutique (where the client gets her material supplies) are obtained through the generous donations of supporters in our community.
If you would like to make a donation to our boutique, check out our Ways to Give page or Amazon Wish List.
SHARE Program
The SHARE Program uses the REAL ESSENTIALS Curriculum for 6th–12 grade students. SHARE (Sexual Health and Relationships Education) is a program that promotes healthy choices and relationships to young men and women in schools, churches, and organizations within our community.
Topics covered are:
- Refraining from Non-Marital Sexual Activity
- Self-Regulation
- Success Sequencing for Poverty Prevention
- Healthy Relationships
- Goal Setting
- Refusal Skills
- Dating Violence
- Avoiding High-Risk Behaviors
SHARE Summer IMPACT
SHARE (Sexual Health and Relationships Education) Summer IMPACT is an opportunity for high school teens who are committed to being role models and saying YES to healthy relationships and a positive future to educate younger students (10+) about the importance of living healthy lifestyles. The SHARE Program uses REAL ESSENTIALS Curriculum.
Each summer, a team of twenty-five high school students travels all across Polk and Hillsborough County to share the message of abstaining from sex until marriage and empowering them to choose healthy relationships and a positive future. Each student will acquire 100 service hours in this seven-week period during the summer.
Post-Abortive Bible Study
For clients and women in our community who have experienced the pain of abortion, we offer a post-abortive Bible study.
Whether the abortion was two months ago or twenty years ago, through this program, women are able to finally find forgiveness and release from the shame and burden that has shackled them since having their abortion. Held in a small, intimate, and confidential group setting of other post-abortive women, women are led through the weekly study by a volunteer who has been in their shoes. A similar study is available for men. At the end of the study, a special memorial service is held by the group to honor the lives of the babies they had carried. Most importantly, the women and men who participate leave the study with a newfound freedom and healing.
If you or someone you know would like to learn more about our post-abortion program, please contact our Client Services Director, Jennifer Alford, at (863) 683-2341 or jennifera@supportawc.com.
