Charlie came to A Woman’s Choice with his fiancée, Welda.* The couple had been dating for several years and were excited about getting married. Early on in their relationship, they decided not to have children as they both love to travel and felt having kids would hold them back from their dreams and aspirations. Charlie and Welda wanted an abortion.
Charlie’s Men’s Coach shared all the pregnancy options with him, so he could be an informed and active participant in the process. They also had a spiritual discussion in which Charlie shared he grew up in a Christian home but lately, had been struggling with certain aspects of life. Charlie would not acknowledge if abortion was wrong or not. He just kept repeating that he and Welda agreed never to have kids.
Welda received an ultrasound on the first visit. Unfortunately, the couple left that day still determined to have an abortion. A few days later, our nurse manager followed up with Welda to see how she was doing and learned she hadn’t had an abortion yet. She encouraged Welda to call back if she had any more questions or concerns. Several days went by, and Welda called! She asked if she and Charlie could schedule another appointment and upon their return visit, Welda received a second ultrasound. They saw how much the baby had grown since their first ultrasound. Again, they saw its little heart beating. We’re happy to share that this time, when the couple left the clinic, they were determined to have their baby.
Charlie and Welda eagerly signed up for our Life Steps education program. During Charlie’s first Life Steps appointment, his Coach asked if there was anything he would like to pray for. Charlie replied, “Yes. I would like to pray for a healthy baby.” Charlie went from not wanting to acknowledge life to wanting to pray for a healthy baby.
Please rejoice with us for this expectant father’s change of heart and for Welda’s life-saving decision! We praise God for shifting their dreams. We are also grateful to you, our generous supporters who are committed to protecting and saving lives. It’s because of you that we get to write these happy endings. We can never thank you enough.
