Roe v. Wade Overturned

It is likely that you are already aware that the Supreme Court handed down its decision this morning to overturn Roe v. Wade.  This is a monumental decision in the history of our nation and for our movement.  This is something the pro-life movement has been working for, praying for, and hoping for since the moment Roe v. Wade was decided on January 22, 1973.  This is a victory for LIFE, and we praise God for the opportunity to see this in our lifetimes!

In light of this momentous day, I wanted to share some thoughts with you about our response to what has happened.  Today’s decision is one that has and will cause a vehement response on both sides of the issue.  It is a very emotional issue that will bring both joy and anger.  So it is vitally important that as pro-life Christians, we are prepared to respond in a peaceful, Christ-like manner.  This is not a time to fight, but to communicate the love we have for women, men, and their babies and our desire to serve them now more than ever.

That is our ultimate message–we are here to serve.  Even with Roe v. Wade being overturned, unplanned pregnancy and abortion will remain.  Yes, it will be completely illegal in some states, and it will be legal up to full term in others.  Here in Florida, as of July 1, 2022, abortion will remain legal, but only up to 15 weeks of pregnancy.  So there is no immediate change in our state.  Abortion is legal.  Abortion may become illegal in states near and around Florida.  So yes, it is possible that we will see women traveling to Florida for abortions, which means an increase in need.  So that brings us right back to the fact that pregnancy centers like A Woman’s Choice will be needed more than ever.  We need to be the place women can come to when they feel they have nowhere else to go.  We need to be equipped to offer compassion, hope, and help through our medical services, education, and support.  We need to be a voice for life and the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ…and WE WILL.  That is what God has called us to do, and we will go forward in that call.

So I encourage you, as we see the historic decision made today discussed, debated, and at times fought about, to be a calm voice of reason, hope and love.  Let us represent Christ, the pro-life movement, and A Woman’s Choice well.  Let us be above reproach “so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.” (Philippians 2:15-16a). This is our time to shine more than ever before!

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the decision and how it impacts our work directly at A Woman’s Choice, please feel free to reply to this email so we can address your questions.  We appreciate your prayers during this time, and we are deeply grateful for your support.  We are together for LIFE!  God bless you!
